The EU Pay Transparency Directive
In May 2024, the Swedish government published its report on how Sweden will implement the EU Pay Transparency Directive, which places greater demands on employers in terms of transparency and wage-related obligations. The directive aims to combat unjustified pay gaps and requires employers to inform both employees and candidates about salary-setting practices.
This means that salary levels or salary ranges must be communicated before interviews, and employees must have the right to access pay data for work of equal value. The directive also tightens the requirements for pay equity analysis and calls for a more transparent job architecture.
Employers who fail to comply with the new directive risk sanctions, and the burden of proof lies with the employer.
We are ready to support you during this transition and answer any questions you may have.
If you need guidance on what the directive means for your organization — including its risks and challenges — don’t hesitate to reach out.
